The Caribbean Investment Climate Index (CICI) 2022 shows that, just like last year, Aruba continues to lead the ranking with the most attractive investment climate. Curaçao also continues to do very well with its fourth place in the ranking. This despite the fact that both countries were affected much harder by the COVID-19 crisis than most other Caribbean islands.

The CICI measures the attractiveness of the investment climate of countries in the Caribbean region. The index includes 16 countries, including Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten. The index is composed of 18 institutional, economic and financial indicators that make a Caribbean country more or less attractive to investors. Examples of indicators are rule of law, openness of the economy, economic growth, interest rates, public debt, and participation rate. Due to insufficient data, this year’s index for Sint Maarten could not be determined.
