Throughout the year, law firm VANEPS donates reading books to elementary schools on islands where it has branches. After donations in Aruba and Curacao, the Marie Genevieve DeWeever public primary school in St. Maarten was donated books the school had selected on Friday 29 May.

The young winner of the recent spelling bee, Melinda McAlister, was selected to accept the donation on behalf of the school. Partner Kamla Besançon symbolically presented the donation to Melinda on behalf of VANEPS. Before presenting the donation, the school principal, Anna Grantham-Halley, introduced VANEPS, emphasizing the firm’s commitment to education. Kamla Besançon then had a lively interactive exchange with the students (ages 4-8) about what the profession of a lawyer entails.

VANEPS focuses its sponsoring and donation policy on youth and youth development. This donation of reading books to schools on each of the four islands where the firm has offices, is a part of that effort.
